Historical Background
The Kiev, a Kiev-class aircraft carrier, was commissioned by the Soviet Navy in 1975. After serving until 1993, it was decommissioned and later sold to Chinese interests in 1996. The vessel was transformed into the centerpiece of the Binhai Aircraft Carrier Theme Park, which opened to the public to showcase military heritage and provide entertainment.
