The Cosmosphere, located in Hutchinson, Kansas, is a Smithsonian-affiliated space museum and science education center. It boasts one of the most significant collections of U.S. and Russian space artifacts globally, second only to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.

The Cosmosphere houses over 13,000 spaceflight artifacts – the largest combined collection of US and Russian spaceflight artifacts in the world, and is home to internationally acclaimed educational programs.

Cosmosphere the 105,000-square-foot facility features several key attractions:

  • Hall of Space Museum: Showcases flown spacecraft, including the Liberty Bell 7 Mercury capsule, the Gemini 10 space capsule, and the Apollo 13 command module Odyssey. The museum also displays a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird and a Moon rock from Apollo 11.
  • Justice Planetarium: Offers immersive astronomical presentations using advanced digital projection systems.
  • Carey Digital Dome Theater: Features a 4K digital projection system for educational and entertaining films.
  • Dr. Goddard’s Lab: Provides interactive demonstrations on the history of rocketry, highlighting the contributions of Dr. Robert Goddard.
  • CosmoKids: An interactive STEAM area designed for children to engage in science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities.
