The Great Lakes Naval Museum, now officially known as the National Museum of the American Sailor, is located at Naval Station Great Lakes in North Chicago, Illinois. It is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history and heritage of the United States Navy and its sailors, with a particular focus on the contributions of Naval Station Great Lakes. One helicopter on display.

The museum is located outside of the Main Gate (Gate 1) of Naval Station Great Lakes. As such, base access is not needed and visitors to the National Museum of the American Sailor do not need visitor passes.
