Between March and June 2025, the Conservation team at IWM Duxford will undertake one of the most challenging and logistically complex projects in recent years as we prepare for the long-term future of AirSpace as a dedicated and permanent exhibition on Cold War and Contemporary Conflict.
This project will see over 100 movements including the lowering of hanging aircraft currently suspended from the roof of AirSpace, as well as the rearrangement of objects displayed on ground level.

Airshows
Since 1973, Duxford has held regular air shows. Duxford is the home of several private aviation companies, such as Classic Wings, The Fighter Collection, the Old Flying Machine Company and The Aircraft Restoration Company. Between them these companies provide pleasure flights, historic aircraft for film or television work, and aircraft restoration services. Perhaps the most notable privately owned and operated aircraft based at Duxford is B-17 Preservation Ltd’s Sally B, the only airworthy B-17 Flying Fortress in Europe.
As a historic site, many of Duxford’s buildings are of particular architectural or historic significance. Three hangars dating back to the First World War and the operations block, houses the wartime operations room from which Duxford’s aircraft were directed.
