The largest part of the Luftfahrt und Technik Museumspark Merseburg is taken up by the exhibition area on aviation technology. 85 missiles are presented, mainly from GDR times. Small aircraft such as the Messerschmitt Me 163 are exhibited in the flight hall, while military aircraft from the USA and the Soviet Union, such as Mikoyan-Gurevich’s military aircraft series or the Lockheed F-104 “Starfighter”, are presented in the outdoor area.
In addition, the Aviation and Technology Museum presents walk-in civil aircraft and helicopters, such as the Il-14, the Tu-134, the Mi-8 helicopter or the Il-62, in the outdoor area. In addition to complete aircraft, the Technology Museum presents exhibition rooms on aviation medicine (flight doctor), turbine technology, balloon technology and aircraft models.
The second part of the museum is occupied by the vehicles. In separate halls, fire-fighting technology from different eras is on display, as well as models of the two-wheel motorisation after the Second World War in the GDR.
