The aim of the Luftfahrtmuseum Finowfurt’s work is to work on the history of aviation, especially for the north-east area of Brandenburg and especially at the Eberswalde – Finow site, and to make it accessible to the public. The results of the museum’s work are presented in permanent and special exhibitions, conferences and guided tours. The methodical principle “Historical processes on the fate and activity of people” is to be presented. The work in the museum is carried out by honorary members of the association and amateur experts. The association has purchased one of four squadron areas of an airfield of approx. 23 ha, which was last used by the Soviet Air Force, and has maintained its structure with all buildings and infrastructural facilities in its originality and functionality since 1993. This unit of historical technology in an original location is known both as a film location and as a venue for major cultural events. The museum structure also includes a specialised library and a workshop for restoration and repair work.
