Aerfer Ariete MM569 Italian Air Force | Ruud Boots
The Ariete (Ram) showed an unusual twin engine configuration achieved by placing an auxiliary jet to be used during take off, climb and dogfights. To feed this second engine a retractable air intake was provided on the upper back part of the fuselage, just behind the cockpit. The Ariete first flight occurred at Pratica di Mare airport on the 27th of March 1958.
