The Narromine Aviation Museum‘s displays are divided into three distinct eras:

  • 1916–1939: This period highlights the early days of aviation in Narromine, featuring visits from renowned aviators such as Sir Charles Kingsford Smith and Jean Batten.
  • 1939–1945: During World War II, Narromine hosted flying training units and a top-secret British bomber squadron. The museum honors the nearly 3,000 pilots trained here, of whom approximately 30% did not return from the war.
  • 1945–Present: Post-war exhibits showcase Qantas pilot training, world-class gliding activities, and the vibrant local aero club.

Among the Narromine Aviation Museum‘s notable exhibits are:

  • Wright Flyer Model A Replica: A flyable replica of the 1907 Wright Flyer Model A, the first aircraft to fly in Australia.
  • Corben Super Ace: A homebuilt sport plane from 1938, restored by the local Men’s Shed group.
  • Hawkridge Venture Glider: One of only two constructed, this glider was built in Dubbo in 1953.
