44-61669/49 Boeing B-29A Super Fortress

This B-29A Superfortress was rescued from the Naval Test Center at China Lake and put on display at the March Field Museum in 1981. She was painted as 'Mission Inn', the name of a famous hotel in the neighbouring city of Riverside, Ca. In 2003 this aircraft was named and painted as "Flagship 500" of the 500th Bomb Group.

Had been assigned to and flown by crews of the 883rd Bomb Squadron, 500th Bomb Group, 73rd Bomb Wing on Saipan. (civil register N3299F)
