Key Highlights:

  1. Historic Aircraft Collection: The museum houses a collection of vintage aircraft, many of which have ties to Welsh aviation history. This includes both military and civilian aircraft. Notable examples include the Hawker Hunter (a British jet fighter from the 1950s), a De Havilland Tiger Moth (a classic biplane used in the early days of civil aviation), and Jet Provost (a British military training aircraft) Hawker Sea Hawk.
  2. Exhibits and Artifacts: In addition to the aircraft, the museum displays a variety of aviation memorabilia, including uniforms, photographs, engines, and other items that tell the story of the development of aviation in the region.
  3. Wales’ Aviation History: The museum explores the historical significance of the Caernarfon Airport and other airfields in Wales, illustrating their role in both civilian and military aviation. The airport itself has a rich history and has been used for many purposes, from training to air transport.

Airworld Aviation Museum is sited in a lovely sea front location next to Caernarfon Airport on at Dinas Dinlle just outside Caernarfon town centre.

Visitors can sit in the cock pits of the planes on display for a real hands on experience and learn  some local history about RAF Llandwrog and the Mountain Rescue Service.

On site there is a well-stocked gift shop selling holiday souvenirs and aviation memorabilia, the airport café, toilets and air viewing area.
