The Minsk, a former Soviet Kiev-class aircraft carrier the centerpiece of Minsk World, a military theme park located in Shenzhen, China. This park offered visitors the opportunity to explore the carrier and learn about naval history. However, due to financial difficulties, Minsk World ceased operations in 2006. The carrier was then relocated to Zhoushan for repairs and later to Nantong, Jiangsu Province, with plans to integrate it into a new theme park. Tragically, on August 16, 2024, a significant fire broke out aboard the Minsk during refurbishment efforts, causing extensive damage and casting doubt on its future as a museum or tourist attraction.

The Minsk, a former Soviet Kiev-class aircraft carrier, has experienced a varied history since its commissioning in 1978. Initially serving in the Soviet Pacific Fleet, the vessel was decommissioned in 1993 following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. In 1995, it was sold to a South Korean company for scrapping but was subsequently acquired by Chinese interests. By 2000, the Minsk had been transformed into Minsk Aircraft Carrier World.
