The Dornier Museum Friedrichshafen is a technical museum that documents the pioneering work of aircraft designer Claude Dornier (1884-1969) and the Friedrichshafen-based company Dornier-Werke, which has since been absorbed into the Airbus Group. It was initiated by Claude Dornier’s third son Silvius Dornier and is sponsored by the Dornier Foundation for Aerospace.

Since 2005, the museum has collected numerous Dornier aircraft, models and other exhibits, which have been presented in a modern museum building with 5,590 m² building space and a 25,000 m² landscaped park directly at Friedrichshafen Airport since its opening on 24 July 2009. The history of the company, production facilities and aircraft models, including the giant Dornier Do X aircraft, will be covered. An archive and a library with reference to Dornier are attached.

Around 400 exhibits, including twelve original aircraft, seven full-scale models from the world of aerospace, and a life-size replica of a Dornier Merkur plane from the 1920s.
