Nieuport II N 1911
This 1911 racer aircraft is seen in the Musee de l’Air et de l’Espace. It could be fitted with a variety of engines (here a Nieuport-Darracq of 28 Hp) It held several speed and distance records in 1911 and was rebuilt in the Nieuport factory as long ago as 1919. Édouard Nieuport broke the official absolute flight speed world record several times in Nie II monoplanes in May and June 1911, bringing it to 133 km/h (83 mph). | Rob Vogelaar
