Yakovlev Yak-3 4 Russian Air Force
This is one of only two surviving original Yak-3 in the world, on display at the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace at Le Bourget. One of almost 5,000 built and powered by a 1,222 hp Klimov engine, this aircraft served in the French Regiment ‘Normandie-Niemen’ of the Soviet Air Force on the Eastern front during WWII. Recent removal of the paint on one side has uncovered older hidden markings (as can be seen), while the other side remains with the latest restoration paint. | Rob Vogelaar
