Museo Militar De Aviación

The Military Aviation Museum, officially known as the Museo Militar de Aviación “Teniente Piloto Aviador José Espinoza Fuentes”, is situated within the Santa Lucía Air Base in Zumpango, State of Mexico. This museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich history of the Mexican Air Force.

Exhibits and Facilities Museo Militar de Aviación:

  • Aircraft Collection: The museum features an impressive collection of approximately 50 aircraft, both inside and on the surrounding grounds. Notable exhibits include:
    • P-47 Thunderbolt: Flown by the 201st Fighter Squadron during World War II.
    • Douglas DC-3 “El Mexicano”: Mexico’s first presidential aircraft.
    • Mil Mi-26: Once the largest helicopter operated by the Mexican Air Force.
    • Northrop F-5E Tiger II: A supersonic light fighter.
  • Exhibition Halls: The Museo Militar de Aviación encompasses 12 exhibition rooms and 24 galleries, offering visitors a comprehensive overview of Mexico’s military aviation history.
  • Additional Amenities: Visitors can also explore a control tower simulator, relax at the on-site cafeteria, and purchase memorabilia from the souvenir shop.
