Exhibits and Features:
- Aircraft Collection: The Museum of Flying showcases approximately a dozen aircraft, including a replica Wright Flyer and a Lockheed Vega, both featured in the film “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.” Additionally, static models of the North American F-86 Sabre and Douglas A-4 Skyhawk are prominently displayed.
- Interactive Displays: Visitors can explore a partially exterior nose section from a Boeing 727-200, donated by Federal Express after two decades of service. The Museum of Flying also houses a Max Flight FS 3000 simulator, offering 360-degree full-motion experiences with surround sound and HD capabilities.
- Historical Exhibits: The mezzanine level features recreations of the Douglas Aircraft Company Executive Board room and the office of founder Donald W. Douglas, providing insights into the company’s storied past.
