Focke Wulf Fw190A-8/U-1 584219/38 1G/JG54 Luftwaffe (German Air Force)
This Focke Wulf was probably manufactured by Arado plant at Warnemunde in single-seat version F-8. Late 1944 was converted to double-seater in Poland factory Blanz. In May 1945 this aircraft was surrendered at Grove airfield in Denmark, coded “black 38”, assigned possibly to JFS 103 (air fighting school). In September 1945 it was flown to England. Many years was stored and displayed at various airfields. In 1972-73 was 18 months restored and repainted, in 1984 was BMW 801D-2 engine rebuild to ground-running condition for open days. Since November 1989 it is displayed at RAF Museum Hendon, painted as single-seater from 1./JG 54 “Grunherz” operated over Russian Front. | Rob Vogelaar
